STUDENT NUMBERS

The
government’s commitment to further education has resulted in
unprecedented numbers of art students graduating every year. Most of
them continue producing ‘art’ for many years after graduating. This
is the principle reason for the current explosion in the annual metric
tonnage of art produced. |
RECYCLING

A
particularly disturbing trend is the quantity of recycled materials
being converted into ‘art’. This factor is escalating the current
crisis alarmingly.
|
PUBLIC ART

Huge
sums are currently spent on placing art in public places. Not only are
these works harmfully large in themselves, but the schemes usually
involve community participation. This encourages all the participants to
continue producing more of their own ‘art’.

ART THERAPY

Further
pressure is coming from the mental health sector. Art therapy has
matured into a major industry. Therapists are actively encouraging
people of all ages with behavioural problems to produce art. This is
particularly disturbing as most have limited attention spans and may
produce many pieces of art in a single session. |
CLIMATE CHAOS

Long
before the other harmful effects of art take hold, the consensus is now
that the entire human race is likely to be wiped out by changes to the
atmosphere. Although not a major problem at present, experts are agreed
that the psychological effects of too much art can cause respiratory
failure – we will be quite literally stifled to death by art if its
density exceeds the tipping point. |
SEA LEVELS RISING

Computer
models of art tonnage dumped at sea indicate an alarming trend. If no
action is taken sea levels will rise an astonishing 20 meters in the
next century, all due to unauthorised offshore art dumping.
