GARDENING  WATERCLOCK
(Chelsea Flower show 1996, in collaboration with Will Jackson)
.

Water is constantly pumped to the top of the clock. The gardener hoses a pond, which fills a tall cup. Every time the cup fills up (about once every 15 seconds) it  tips up, raising the dog's leg and opening a valve which makes him pee. A small amount of water is tipped into the perspex tube on the right which shows the minutes.

On the hour the minute tube empties. A variety of chiming mechanisms also activate - including a swany whistle and a snare drum. A cup full of water is also tipped into the left hand tube, (which has the hours marked on the copper strip alongside).

The extraordinary thing about his clock is that it made the front page of the Daily Mirror
