HOLIDAY DRAWINGS
I used to draw compulsively on holiday - partly to extend my limited cartoon style (I
never went to art school) and partly just for fun. After a while the drawings all started
looking rather the same, and I felt increasingly embarrassed staring at people while
drawing them, so I don't do it so often now. I still enjoy the process, and can still get
so completely absorbed that I lose track of time and forget to eat.
I've recently enjoyed participating in 'Drawing Power', a UK campaign to
raise awareness of drawing. They staged an entertaining day at the British museum in
September where a mass of people drew the museum and each other and put the results up on
the walls. |
