JEWELRY
I've only ever made jewelry as presents for friends, never for sale. I like working with silver, though I find the scale of jewelry too fiddly to do for long at a time

MEG'S RING,  1980
Silver is a wonderful material to work with, and not that expensive in small amounts. It’s fun to buy as well – there’s a great place at the top of Wardour St in London. I did once try buying gold, but that is very expensive, and I rashly bought 9 carrat gold, which isn’t that nice to use.

Mum's ring, 2015

My mum was 92 when I made this. Large rings look good on old hands. The stone is labradorite and it's held by two lizards. The first version was a complete failure because I made it out of .7mm thick silver, too thin to be comfortable to wear. I remade it from 1.8mm silver.
